Position Summary

The Instructional Technologist will report to Director of Online and Professional Education and will play an integral role in the William James College online learning team serving Educational Technology (ET) and Continuing Education (CE) activities. This position will temporarily work remotely three days a week and onsite two days a week, until otherwise notified.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide instructional technology support and training to online faculty/students, and persons inquiring about and/or registered for Continuing Education programs while maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Manage online student enrollment in our learning management system and registrations for Continuing Education in our CE registration system (Cvent)
  • Contribute to the creation, organization and use of our document library and training materials
  • Manage quality assurance of online offerings (both course design and functionality)
  • Document and analyze the operations, effectiveness and feedback of Educational Technology and Continuing Education online programs
  • Understand and maintain accreditation and authorization materials for ET and CE online programs
  • Assist Director in management of work study students
  • Provide instructional technology support and training to non-online faculty that are hoping to use educational technology to enhance their teaching
  • Handle support tickets regarding ET and CE educational and registration technology
  • Be an administrator to all ET and CE educational technology and apply experience and training to maintaining the operation of assigned systems.
  • Assist in the implementation and transition to new ET and CE vendors
  • Work with subject matter experts to design functional and effective online ET and CE courses
  • Manage instructional design projects to ensure that they meet deadlines and target completion dates
  • Edit videos for ET and CE courses as assigned
  • Create and update events for continuing education courses in Cvent
  • Ensure that the evaluation and certificate process for CE courses runs smoothly in Cvent
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies
  • Research and evaluate new ET and CE educational technology tools that might be useful for WJC
  • Other duties as instructed or assigned
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2+ years of experience in Educational/Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field, preferred
  • High level of professionalism, energy, and enthusiasm
  • Passion about online education and how it impacts the future of higher education
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Ability to work well under time pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, web-based collaboration tools (Google drive)
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas) preferred
  • Experience with Cvent continuing education system preferred
  • Some familiarity with project management methods preferred
