Job Summary

The Lab Aide will provide instructional support to department faculty who teach the Uniquely Abled Academy class sections by assisting students with lab activities and maintaining lab and classroom facilities. Assists in maintaining and organizing equipment, materials and instructional supplies. Assists students with all aspects of learning activities by providing materials, equipment, and guidance during lecture and lab times. Provides regular classroom coverage for faculty, as required. Maintains classrooms on a regular basis, to include ensuring equipment and computers are operational. Maintains a clean and safe learning environment for student learning. Completes all assignments given by the department Faculty in a timely manner. Assist in inventory and equipment requisitions, as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  1. Knowledge and experience in 3-axis mill and lathe CNC and manual machining, including machine set up, operation, and maintenance
  2. Knowledge and experience with CAM programming software
  3. Familiar with machined part inspections
  4. Assist students with labs and assignments as directed by the program faculty
  5. Assistance with the documentation and maintenance of student performance records
  6. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work without close supervision in a team with diverse membership. Ability to take initiative and resolve problems.
  8. Ability to work within a prescribed curriculum and departmental procedures while maintaining patience, creativity, and cooperative attitude.
  9. Excellent attendance record and attitude.
  10. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  11. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Minimum qualifications

Salt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in CNC Machinist Technician or Manual Machining, or 2 years of relevant industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Salt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in CNC Machinist Technician or Manual Machining, or 3 years of relevant industry experience.
