Position Information
The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) is a unique and collaborative graduate school that combines the collective expertise of three Colorado universities: the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz) in Aurora, Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, Colorado. The overall mission of the Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center (RMPRC) is to shorten the time it takes to implement evidence-based practices in school settings so that students, school staff and parents can enjoy healthier, happier lives. Within RMPRC, there is the School Wellness Programs (SWP) and their responsibilities include working with preschoolers, elementary students, parents, and school staff in low-income preschools/elementary schools focusing on promoting nutrition education, physical activity and overall health and wellness and are located in one of the following geographic areas: Denver metro area, El Paso, Pueblo, San Luis Valley, Southeast, or Weld counties in Colorado.
This position will work in the Pueblo/El Paso Counties and will facilitate and implement for the RMPRC School Wellness Program. This position will work under the supervision of a Program Manager and the guidance of the program staff to ensure the program is following policies and procedures are required by the University.

This position will work with preschool/elementary age children, parents, and staff to promote increasing moderate to vigorous physical activity and increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables.
Job responsibilities include:

Administer one or more of the following (RMPRC-SWP) components Nutrition Education (NE), Physical Activity (PA), Parent Wellness (PW), and Policy, Systems and Environment (PSE). in ECE/Elementary schools to ensure integrity to the (RMPRC-SWP) program philosophy and goals. Below are the responsibilities and duties that fall within these components:
Minimum Qualifications
The salary for this 100% full-time position has been established at $45,049 - $57,302.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation at the time of posting. The salary for the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, career field, education, and area of expertise.

- Facilitate one-time parent workshops and 6-week workshop series.
- Utilize Motivational Interviewing concepts.
- Recruit directors, teachers, and parents to participate in health promotion committees, wellness activities and parent wellness workshops.
- Understand and be able to communicate best practices (curriculum) around nutrition and physical activity.
- Assist with trainings for preschool/elementary staff to increase capacity and ensure fidelity to the (RMPRC-SWP) program philosophy and goals.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities throughout the year, (example: staff meetings; professional development days, etc.)
- Disseminate written material and model activities with children, parents, and teachers, to increase moderate to vigorous physical activity and increase consumption of fruits and vegetables.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with classroom staff (e.g., communicate and follow up with classroom staff via email, phone and in person/on site)
- Observe classroom activities and collect process and outcome evaluation data.
- Identify, recruit, and train school staff and parents to become Wellness Champions. Follow-up with Wellness Champions to identify opportunities for nutrition and physical activity in the school community.
- Support our free, nutrition and physical activity digital health outreach called Text2LiveHealthy (e.g. message development, monitoring platform, enrolling subscribers).
- Ability to work flexible hours and availability to work weekends and evenings is required.
- Data input several databases.
- Receipt and mileage processes and guidelines.
- Business credit card responsibilities.
- Other administrative duties.
- Duties and responsibilities as assigned by Program Director and Managers.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in education, nutrition, public health, health and wellness, psychology, sociology or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Substitution: A combination of experience working in education or a school setting, non-profit or community organization, health, and nutrition promotion field, and or a related field may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience with health promotion and working in a school setting.
- At least 2 years of experience in an education setting (e.g. public schools, preschools etc.).
- Public speaking and group facilitation experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Ability to foster relationships and create a learning environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to interact with diverse populations and economically disadvantaged communities.
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must possess and maintain current valid driver's license, reliable transportation, satisfactory driving record, and personal automobile liability insurance.
- Must be willing and able to drive own vehicle for work (state mileage reimbursement available.)
- Must be able to have a flexible schedule including occasional weekends, evenings, before school starts and after school ends.
- Must have and use a personal data phone for daily use.
- Must be able to comfortably lift 25 pounds and perform physical demands (loading and unloading items out of your personal vehicle).
