Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
SVSU invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor of psychology position to begin July 1st, 2026. Applicants must have acquired their Ph.D. by the time of appointment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduates in research and lab courses, as well as an established scholarly record relevant to undergraduate research activities. Teaching responsibilities are in-person, on-campus (24 credit hours/year). Courses will likely include general psychology, experimental psychology, and other courses within the successful candidate's area of expertise. Specialty area is open, but preference will be given to those with expertise in either personality/social psychology or applied subfields such as industrial/organizational or community psychology. Other responsibilities include academic service and student advising.

- Earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in psychology or a closely related field. ABD will be considered if the Ph.D. is completed by July 1, 2026.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.
- Relevant teaching experience at the university level
- Experience guiding undergraduate research projects
- Ability to work with a broad spectrum of students
- Duties are generally performed inside and not exposed to adverse conditions.
- All work associated with this role must be performed within the state of Michigan.
