Job Description:
The Teacher Education Department at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor to teach courses in Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education.
We seek a colleague who possesses experience working with a broad population of stakeholders from a variety of school contexts who can engage in the culture of teaching, scholarship, and service within the College of Education, the university, and the surrounding community. Additionally, we seek a colleague who will actively contribute to the success of our students, engage in the collaborative and interdisciplinary work of faculty, and advance the mission of our program, college, and university.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate or ABD in early childhood/early intervention, special education, or closely related field. (ABD should be able to pinpoint date of scheduled defense and degree completion.)
- Minimum three years of state-issued certified teaching experience or service provision in infant/toddler home visiting, preschool through 3rd grade (general or special education).
- Experience with designing curriculum focused on birth - 3rd-grade teaching.
- Knowledge of Michigan Birth-K (General and Special Education) and PK-3 standards for lower elementary teacher preparation.
- Knowledge of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Division of Early Childhood (DEC) Recommended Practices.
- Applicants must be available to teach during the day and evening and attend program and monthly department meetings.
- Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.
- Prior teaching experience in special education programs: Birth-5 (IDEA Part B or Part C).
- Experience working with families of young children with exceptionalities in natural environments.
- Certification in Early Childhood Special Education/Early Intervention
- Certification in and/or experience designing curriculum, teaching undergraduate coursework, or supervising fieldwork focused on early childhood or early childhood special education.
- Experience in using digital technologies for teaching and assessment, and/or experience with accreditation and program assessment.
- Duties are generally performed inside and not exposed to adverse conditions.
- All work associated with this role must be performed within the state of Michigan.
