Position Purpose
The Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Students is one of a unit of undergraduate deans within the Division of Undergraduate Education in the School of Arts & Sciences. The Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Students is responsible for student advising and programming in the context of a highly selective liberal arts college environment. The Assistant Dean promotes students' intellectual and personal growth consistent with the mission of the College and helps administer College policies and procedures.

- Three years relevant work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven record of effectiveness in student advising, addressing needs of students from underrepresented backgrounds and support programs that promote student success.
- Proven record of successful experience responding to individual and community-based crises with a high level of discretion and experience with student privacy/confidentiality, including FERPA.
- Outstanding organizational skills, problem-solving, proficiency in teamwork, collaboration, flexibility, and strong communication to multiple audiences.
- Solid foundation in student developmental theory and its application to professional practice in student affairs.
- Experience with on-call responsibilities, student crisis management or equivalent experience.
- Master's Degree in higher education administration, student development and leadership, student personnel or related field with five years relevant work experience.

- Provides holistic, developmentally appropriate advising to a designated caseload of students on academic, personal, and social matters.
- Monitors academic progress of students and proactively supports students in "at risk" categories.
- Responds to inquiries and concerns from faculty, staff, and parents on wide-ranging student circumstances.

- Serves on Dean-On-Call rotation for after-hours/weekend campus emergency management and coordinates with Case Management regarding heightened student situations.
- Implements Incomplete course agreements and student withdrawal and return processes.
- Writes letters of recommendation for student scholarships, undergraduate program opportunities, and graduate school applications.
