Position Summary

Duties and Responsibilities
The area of research is focused on the synthesis of quaternary ammonium compounds that show antibacterial activity. Techniques commonly used in the lab center around the synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic small molecules. Additional opportunities to pursue independent research interests may be provided. There will be significant mentoring of undergraduate and masters research students.
The candidate will also teach four courses/laboratories per year in organic chemistry and other disciplines, with occasional opportunities at the graduate level.

- A Ph.D. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related area
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty
- A desire to teach
- Previous experience mentoring undergraduate researchers
