Summary of Position

The TREC HVAC Limited Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month/ 166-day faculty position in AAWI. The faculty member is responsible for teaching 30 credit hours annually (generally 15 credits each fall and spring semester). Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery (e.g. hybrid, online, or accelerated); some weekend/evening, hybrid, and/or online teaching may be required. Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; student learning assessment duties; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental, and College meetings and functions. Faculty may need to teach at any RRCC campus and at a variety of times (days, evenings, and some weekends).

This position is grant-funded and contingent upon continued funding with an anticipated funding schedule of at least two years. The current funding cycle concludes at the end of each fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30. Continued employment is contingent upon the renewal of grant funding.

The faculty member develops and evaluates curricula, ensures program alignment with community needs and regulatory requirements, participates in assessment activities, documents curriculum changes based on assessments, implements retention strategies, and integrates technology into coursework. Additional responsibilities involve maintaining office hours, assisting with departmental duties, providing academic advising to students, participating in college events, serving on committees, and representing the college in the community. Professional development is a key component of the role, with opportunities for growth to support both teaching and service functions aligned with the college's goals.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to teach hands-on HVAC technical content

  • Technology proficiency

  • Journey worker knowledge of HVAC practices
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, or related field
    • OR Journeyman level HVAC experience (minimum four years).
  • Experience teaching and/or training in various subjects within the discipline.
  • Any applicable industry experience required for CTE credential.
  • Industry experience in HVAC installation, service, troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Qualifies for Colorado Postsecondary CTE credential including 4000 occupational hours within the last 7 years (2000 with bachelor's degree).

Preferred Qualifications
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification.
  • NCCER Instructor Certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience with heat pump installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Experience supporting diverse learners.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $84,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days. The projected start date for this position is August 1, 2026. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. Faculty may have the option to teach additional course overloads in accordance with college policies and procedures for additional compensation. This position is grant-funded and contingent upon continued funding with an anticipated funding schedule of at least two years. The current funding cycle concludes at the end of each fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30. Continued employment is contingent upon the renewal of grant funding.
