The School of Theatre, Film & Television at the University of Arizona seeks an academic year appointment, Assistant Professor of Practice (Career-Track) in Scene Design for the 2026-27 academic year.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Teach courses and direct production studies to undergraduate and graduate students in some of the following topics:
  • Scenic design
  • Period styles
  • Drafting
  • Props
• Instruct and supervise scenic design and technology students for all productions in the theatre programs.
• Demonstrate comprehensive education practices in the design program through teaching, mentoring, and related activities.
• Collaborate in the evolution of design courses to reflect a wide range of contemporary entertainment trends.
• Direct MFA thesis and BFA capstone projects for scenic design and technology students.
• Design at least one theatre production.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS or BA degree and 3 years of professional experience are required.
• Professional experience must include experience as a scenic designer, CAD drafting, model making, painting, drawing and digital imaging.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
