Job Description
The Clinical Dental Hygiene Faculty member is responsible for providing clinical instruction, supervision, mentorship, and evaluation of dental hygiene students within the clinical education environment. Faculty members support the mission of the dental hygiene program by promoting excellence in patient care, evidence-based practice, professionalism, ethics, and student success. This position requires active engagement in teaching, patient care oversight, calibration activities, institutional service, and continuous quality improvement initiatives consistent with accreditation standards and institutional policies
Required Qualifications
Associate or Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution. Current unrestricted dental hygiene license in Tennessee or eligibility for licensure in Tennessee. Current CPR/BLS certification. Minimum of 3 years of clinical dental hygiene experience. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Commitment to student-centered education and collaborative teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Dental Hygiene, Education, Public Health, or related field. Previous teaching or clinical instruction experience in a CODA-accredited dental hygiene program. Experience with electronic health records and digital radiography. Local anesthesia certification. Experience in calibration, competency assessment, and accreditation processes. Experience working in an academic healthcare environment.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand and move throughout clinic sessions. Ability to assist in clinical demonstrations and patient care activities. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform clinical dental hygiene procedures.
