The College of Business (COB) has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer BSBA, MBA, and MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. A strategic goal of the college is to create an environment where the faculty, staff, and students can thrive and be personally and professionally respected.

The College of Business Cunanan Center for Professional Success serves as the distinguished unit established to provide career development, career counseling, professional development and job & internship search assistance to graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Business.


Job Duties:

The Assistant Director of the College of Business Cunanan Center for Professional Success reports directly to Director of the Cunanan Center for Professional Success. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead, develop and deliver comprehensive student career development services including, counseling and student employment engagement services in support of students educational, occupational, and career / professional growth.

The Assistant Director is responsible for:

40%- Programming
  • Assist in planning and delivery of career programing such as career information & development events, employer information events for students, career fairs, and programs to engage alumni and employer partners
  • Support BUSI programming (resume approvals / presentations, practice interviews, etc.)
40%- Career Counseling
  • Provide leadership and direction in the areas of individual assessment, educational choices/career planning and development, and placement strategies for all College of Business students
  • Provide engaging career and job search coaching to students based upon an understanding of current trends in recruiting, career counseling, organizational hiring, and student development
  • Collaborate with faculty to provide career readiness and professional development initiatives
  • Deliver information and guidance concerning COB undergraduate concentrations supported by career assessments and experiential opportunities
  • Coach students regarding career decision-making, career options, goal setting, career research, the job search process, and applying to graduate/professional school
  • Communicate job, internship, and other Career Center opportunities to graduate and undergraduate students.
10%-Operations
  • Assist in collecting data to assess program offerings to identify developmental needs and opportunities for growth to align with university and college strategic plan and learning outcomes; facilitate implementing changes as directed
  • Utilize career management system(s) and other relevant technologies that support students and employers while documenting ongoing communications
10%- Other
  • Serve on various campus and college committees and groups as requested
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Cunanan Center for Professional Success
The normal work schedule of the position is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some after-hours and weekend work is required. This position serves on College of Business and University committees as appropriate. Some evening and weekend duties and responsibilities accompany this position as directed by the Director. Some travel may be required.

Minimum Education/Experience:

The Assistant Director must have a Post-Baccalaureate degree related to disciplines such as, but not limited to, human resources, vocational or academic counseling, adult education, educational leadership, business administration, public administration, psychology, or higher education administration) from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience and proficiency with incorporating career oriented technology to deliver career services. Will accept an undergraduate degree and 2 years relevant experience in substitution.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:

None

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

Demonstrated knowledge of career development issues, employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, occupational, data collection and career/employment information sources are preferred. Experience delivering and evaluating comprehensive career and professional development services to constituents in an academic environment is preferred.
