Department Summary
Ohio University is seeking a detail-oriented professional to serve as Assistant Director for Application Management, playing a critical role in the review and release of admission decisions for more than 40,000 undergraduate applications annually across all Ohio University campuses. This highly collaborative position will help shape and oversee complex application review workflows, decision release processes, and post-admission operations that directly support the University's enrollment goals and student experience. Working closely with Undergraduate Admissions leadership, this role combines operational strategy, process management, and data-informed decision-making.
As a key member of the application management team, the assistant director will guide the day-to-day coordination of application review and admissions decision processes while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with institutional policies and practices. The position will collaborate across Undergraduate Admissions, Enrollment Marketing and Operations, and university admitting centers to refine workflows, improve processes, and support strategic enrollment initiatives. This role also serves as a subject matter expert for holistic application review, providing training, guidance, and operational leadership to staff and review teams while helping to manage nuanced applicant scenarios, appeals, and post-admission processes.
This position is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a highly analytical, collaborative environment and enjoys balancing strategy with hands-on problem solving. The Assistant Director leverages recruitment and admissions data to assess trends, improve operations, and support informed decision-making across the enrollment process.
Position Profile
Recruits, evaluates, and participates in the selection of candidates for University admission. Coordinates with all internal departments, external organizations, and individuals involved in the admissions process. Advises applicants and parents about educational planning. Ensures the effective and compliant processing of student applications.

Provides professional expertise to the University community. Serves as a resource and guide to others in the department and/or university. Completes operational tasks essential for the daily functioning of the University. Additionally, contributes to larger projects or initiatives that align with department or University goals, often collaborating across teams.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May assist in mentoring or training new employees.
Fiscal Responsibilities
No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions.

Handles a variety of problems with some independence.

Physical Requirements
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Significant travel, including some overnights and weekends, within assigned territory is required. Travel to Ohio University for training, on-campus events, and collaboration with admissions staff and university colleagues is also expected. Must be able to travel independently.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, managing and assessing workflows and process. Previous experience working with CRM and/or ERP systems. Experience with admission application file review. Established organizational and time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively. Strong interpersonal and written communication and public speaking skills. Effective data analysis and troubleshooting skills.
The incumbent is able to represent the University in a professional and positive manner and abide by the National Association for College Admission Counseling's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission.
Ability to pass background checks, university judiciary review, and regular driving history audits.

Pay Rate: The Assistant Director for Application Management is mapped to Pay Grade CA&P 15 at OHIO, with a target hiring range of $45,837 - $51,377. The exact starting salary for the selected candidate will be negotiable, commensurate with education and experience, and competitive in the field within the context of similarly situated positions at public universities nationally.
