Assistant Research Professor of Pediatrics

Position Summary
The Division of Pediatrics Health Services Research in the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) is currently seeking applications from highly motivated, team-oriented candidates for a research scientist.
The research scientist conducts independent and collaborative research within their area of expertise. This position develops externally funded research programs, publishes scholarly work, mentors students and research staff, and collaborates with faculty, industry, government agencies, and community partners.
The mission of the Grassroots Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Initiative is grounded in a human-rights based approach to MCH. We believe that system change work must be done in equitable partnership with community members. To this end, the initiative started its work by going into communities across Indiana with poor MCH outcomes and training and mentoring women with lived experiences in these communities to be Grassroots MCH Leaders. These women are trained and mentored to be community activists, developers and systems change agents. Together we all work to address the inequitable social and economic systems that lie at the heart of poor MCH outcomes.
Indiana University is a multi-campus public research institution, and a world leader in professional, medical, and technological education with an annual operating budget of $2.1 billion. IUSM is the largest medical school in the United States with a student body that includes over 43% women and 36% ethnic minorities. IUSM scientists and physicians were awarded over $217million in research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2021, setting a school record for research funding for the sixth straight year. Additionally, IUSM provides an interdisciplinary and interactive scientific environment with many multidisciplinary centers and state-of-the-art core facilities.
