Position Purpose

Provides strategic support to frontline Senior Vice President (SVP) of University Advancement in the cultivation and solicitation of prospects. Researches gift opportunities; prepares gift proposals and supplementary resources; drafts prospect briefings; proposes, implements, and supports communication and engagement strategies; and documents and stewards donor gifts. Complements the external, face-to-face donor responsibilities of fundraisers. Efforts are focused on individual prospects who are considered capable of making gifts of $5,000,000+ over five years.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-4 years' experience in fundraising or a related field (e.g., marketing, communications, research)
  • Demonstrated writing experience and excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and changing priorities and demonstrated collaborative approach
  • Ability to successfully manage a high-volume workload and competing priorities. Experience in a complex organization desirable
  • A creative and entrepreneurial spirit and strong negotiation skills
  • Demonstrates an ability to work with and to gain the respect of College officers, Advancement colleagues, faculty, and high-level prospect donors
  • Strong attention to detail and able to function independently with minimal oversight

Strategic Communications & Donor Engagement
  • Drafts and refines high-level, personalized correspondence for the SVP, President, deans, faculty, and other key stakeholders to advance donor relationships.
  • Writes and manages prospect outreach, including visit communications, solicitation materials, and stewardship packages.
  • Develops tailored gift proposals and customized giving opportunities (unrestricted, restricted, and planned gifts) aligned with institutional priorities and donor interests.
  • Plans and coordinates prospect visit itineraries, including cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and related engagement activities.

  • Drafts and manages the approval process for prospect and event briefings for senior leadership and key stakeholders (e.g., President, SVP, trustees, deans, faculty, and volunteers).\
  • Prepares remarks, bios, and supporting materials to ensure effective participation in donor meetings and events.

  • Supports the SVP through cross-functional coordination that strengthens information flow and relationship development across Advancement and the institution.
  • Develops and maintains templated proposals and donor-facing materials (print and digital) to support fundraising efforts.
  • Conducts research and contributes to special projects, including complex inquiries that inform solicitation strategies and stewardship initiatives.
