Job Description Summary:
This is a one-year multidisciplinary fellowship training opportunity for individuals interested in advanced training in the diagnosis and management of neurological and musculoskeletal impairments and disabilities associated with various types of cancers and their treatments. Special skills are developed in the evaluation and treatment of cancer patients and survivors with residual impairments related to their cancer treatments including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, and stem cell transplantation, as well as complications related to the cancer itself. Fellows will also manage non-cancer-related rehabilitation and musculoskeletal issues influencing a patient's quality of life and ability to undergo further cancer treatments. Trainees will have an exciting opportunity to also undergo additional rotations in interventional and pelvic pain management, palliative care, integrative medicine, as well as elective opportunities in radiation oncology and other oncology sub-specialty fields. Although emphasis is primarily clinical, there is ample opportunity for a research project. Specific assistance including mentorship and dedicated time can be available for research purposes. Trainees will have meaningful opportunities in cancer related education at the departmental and institutional levels.

  • Inpatient and outpatient continuity clinic.
  • On call coverage as directed.
  • Teach residents and medical students.
  • Active involvement in organizing aspects of the regular didactic program.
  • Publish in a peer-reviewed journal.

Required Qualifications

Education:
  • MD or DO.
  • Board Certified/ Board eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
