JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Workforce Development Specialist is responsible for assisting adult education programs to address and meet the goals of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Title II with the Pennsylvania Department of Education Division of Adult Education Workforce Development Liaison project. Under the direction of project leadership, the Specialist will develop and deliver training for adult education program staff; provide technical assistance and coaching to program sites; coordinate the implementation of workforce development strategies; develop resources for programs; contribute to the development of various written and online program deliverables; and other similar tasks that support the role of student support specialists in adult education programs.

This job will be filled as a level 2or 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A master's degree in adult education, workforce development, or related discipline is preferred. Knowledge of, and experience with, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, workforce development, career pathways, adult education theory and practice, and English as a Second Language theory and practice are strongly desired. Experience teaching adults, training, and/or performing a coaching-related role is desired. A successful candidate should possess strong organizational skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to creatively solve problems; and experience using Microsoft Office products and web conferencing tools (e.g., GoToMeeting). Applicant must have flexibility in his/her schedule. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding. Travel is required. This position has the potential to work remotely on a partial basis.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
