Crystal Smith-Morgan, LMFT
Crystal Smith Morgan is a visionary counselor educator, systemic advocate, community conduit, approved clinical supervisor (ACS), and dually licensed clinician (LMFT, LPC) with over 20 years of exceptional contributions to mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, leadership, and higher education. Currently a Doctoral Candidate in Counselor Education, and near completion of her dissertation, she seamlessly merges academic expertise with practical application. Her focus includes strategic leadership, enhancing systems, policies, procedures and fostering innovative strategies. Crystal is deeply passionate about teaching and shaping counselor and marriage and family therapist identities, as well as developing emerging servant leaders.
With a commitment to systemic and culturally responsive mental health best practices, she has played a vital role in supporting veterans, student veterans, service members and their families. Her experience includes having served in the role of Associate Director of Counseling and Psychological Services in the Division of Student Affairs, adjust professor, service provider and clinical supervisor in direct mental health care and service delivery at the Department of Veterans Affairs among other organizations.
Crystal holds esteemed leadership roles, including her position on the AAMFT Board of Directors, her designation as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, and recognition as an AAMFT Certificate of Leadership Fellow. Her sociology-informed research delves into the impact of sociocultural variables on couples and families, the development of community leadership, and the promotion of self-leadership. She has been celebrated as a CSI Exemplar for her influential work and publication, “ Systemic Advocacy & Supervision: Intersecting Identities of Counselors in the Workplace.” (CSI Exemplar, 2023).
In her dynamic career, Crystal founded Life Counseling, Consulting & Mediation, LLC, where she provides comprehensive services to individuals, families, couples, students, and members of military and law enforcement. A dedicated mentor and coach, she is committed to supporting students pursuing mental health professions. As a board member for the "Power of One" Scholarship founded by her late grandmother, she helps empower high school students striving for careers in global advocacy. Additionally, her work has expanded access to mental health services for uninsured and underinsured individuals, improving the delivery of care.
Crystal remains unwavering in her dedication to integrating equitable and culturally responsive mental health services as a fundamental pillar for academic and community growth, aimed at enhancing social and cultural capital.
