Dr. Maggie May is a problem solver, cheerleader, critical thinker- lover of all things yoga-(minus, the goats). As a lifelong learner and lover of the arts, she has a desire to make a positive impact while challenging herself with new opportunities for growth. Dr. May values creating a culture of care, opportunities for reflection and professional development, while championing dream-seekers around her. As the CEO/founder of her namesake- Maggie May Consulting, Dr. May leverages 10+ years of higher education experience while assisting students and families with the college transition process. From workshops, tailored coaching and tips for students and their families, she offers a variety of modalities to connect and share her coaching strategies for success, from intimate personalized sessions, to workshops for K-12 school districts, community colleges, homeschool pods and private school networks. Dr. May hosts Let’s Talk College & The College Coach sessions in-person, online, and at county libraries while fostering student success opportunities and promoting her latest book, The College Playbook: Student Success Strategies. Not only does her higher education experience include faculty roles, but she has also served as professional staff in various positions gaining leadership opportunities. While her experiences in state policy roles have provided opportunities outside the classroom, she has carved out opportunities to serve the students of the Carolinas at the state level as external reviewer and consultant for higher education policy reviewing academic program productivity and economic development strategies. Her work includes creating strategic partnerships with regional industries and educational institutions to advance opportunities for students after graduation while championing their labor market outcomes in advanced manufacturing and healthcare. When Maggie isn’t advocating for the students of the Carolinas, she enjoys coordinating events around philanthropy efforts near and dear to her heart. Maggie can also be found coaching her twin sons’ soccer team and on the sidelines cheering for her daughter during gymnastics competitions. Maggie’s leadership philosophy is driven by a true passion for her community, a resiliency to meet obstacles with grace, and a grit to get results.
