Author Biography
Mike Lorenz
I have been working in Higher Education Administration for 18 years. My career began in Residential Life within Student Affairs, and I rose through that field where I was a Human Resources representative doing training, selection, and formation for our students and staff, and eventually a Director of Residential Life. Throughout that time, I have worked at three Jesuit institutions, and believe highly in the Jesuit education philosophy and service ideas.
I joined the Air National Guard as an undergraduate student, and then continued that service as a graduate student, and finally as a staff member. I was enlisted for 10 years, serving as an Aircraft Weapons Loader and Mechanic.
After my tenure in university housing, I transitioned to Military & Veteran Support, where I work with military/veteran alumni, faculty and staff, students, prospective students, and military families. I also provide training to faculty and staff on how to be more inclusive to military-connected students and colleagues, and how to engage in meaningful conversations with those who served in the military.
